Profile
My name is Charlene and I graduated from Brunel
University May 2000
with an Honours Degree in Physiotherapy. I started my first job as a Junior Physiotherapist
at the
Luton and Dunstable Hospital, working in the busy Physiotherapy Out-patient department,
treating a wide range of conditions, including sports injuries,
back and neck problems. I was also involved with presenting back
lectures to many of our patients, to ensure they were aware of
best postures
at rest and when doing normal everyday tasks.
Soon after,
in addition to the L&D, I started setting up my private Physiotherapy practice,
working both
from
home
and also at the famous "Champneys Health Spa", working
very closely with an Orthopaedic Consultant. As well as doing
hands on treatment, I also worked with many of my patients
in the
gym and swimming pool.
At the end of 2003 I left the hospital and took
on a new Senior Physiotherapy post, working with palliative care patients at
the
Isabel Hospice. Being a new position, I had to set the
service up from scratch, working within Day Hospice, In-Patient
Unit and in the Community. My roles were varied but the aim of therapy
was to improve each patients quality
of life
- extremely
rewarding.
In September 2006, I left Isabel Hospice and now dedicate all my time to my private practice which I enjoy immensely.
